Sunday Satsang 24 August 2008: Śrī Janmāṣṭamī

Posted in Esoteric Teaching, Podcasts, Sunday Satsangs at 08:35 by David Bruce Hughes

This Sunday happened to be Śrī Janmāṣṭamī, the blessed Appearance Day of Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa. It also happened to be the first day that my principal disciple Uddhava and Neville, another student from India, came to stay with us at our International Retreat Center in Mexico. So we had a devotee-style party!

Sunday Satsang August 17: “I am the Gate”

Posted in Esoteric Teaching, Podcasts, Sunday Satsangs at 06:40 by David Bruce Hughes

In this Sunday Satsang we get into a deep discussion of the nature of the spiritual path. The spiritual master is the gateway to the spiritual world, because he is the representative of the Lord. Therefore the path to spiritual success lies in understanding the spiritual master’s instructions and executing them properly. The online students also asked very nice questions in this satsang.

Sunday Satsang 10 August 2008: Four Paths of the Soul

Posted in Esoteric Teaching, Podcasts, Sunday Satsangs, Vedanta at 10:35 by David Bruce Hughes

In this Sunday Satsang we discuss what Vedānta-sūtra has to tell us about the four paths of the soul after death. Pious souls go by the path of the moon to serve the forefathers; those with transcendental knowledge but not yet self-realized go via path of the sun and serve the devas; those who are sinful go to the planet of Yamaraja where they are judged and punished. All of these return to the earth planet, after their enjoyment or punlishment is complete, by entering the rain and food plants, being eaten by a male and injected into the womb of the female. The pious sould take birth in human families; but the impious are born in the animal, insect and plant species, where they take borth and die again and again before being allowed to take human birth again. The fourth category is the fully self-realized devotees, who go directly or inirectly to the spiritual world. They never take both in this material world again.
